Queen's Domain Demo Walkthrough: Every Step to the Skeleton Boss
A complete Queen's Domain demo walkthrough: the shore route, the library detour, the burial-area puzzle and the skeleton boss, plus every demo achievement.
The Queen's Domain demo is not a vertical slice stitched together from later areas. It is the opening of the game, running from the shipwreck shore through the first outpost, the library and the burial area, and ending after the skeleton boss. That makes it the best possible practice run for the full release, and a bad place to rush.
The median completion time is about 1 hour 38 minutes; the fastest recorded run is around 45 minutes. If you are finishing in 40, you are skipping the library and probably the hidden meal. This route keeps you on the critical path while flagging the two optional detours that matter.

Before you press start
- Play with a controller if you have one. The store lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense, and the shoulder-button Holy Sword is easier to reach than a keyboard bind.
- Set brightness once, then leave it. The demo's hotfix notes mention a brightness floor; the game is dark by design, not broken.
- Expect no map screen. You navigate by the circular compass, landmarks and NPC directions. The map guide translates those directions into region connections.
- Do not save-scum the boss. The demo is short enough to re-run, and the fight teaches the exact stamina discipline the full game expects.
Minute 0–15: the shore and the rusty sword
You wake on the beach with nothing. The first soldier is the only friendly face for a while, and he does three useful things: he explains that your father went inland, he gives you a rusty sword, and he points at the barricade.
Follow the barricade. The beach enemies are not a tutorial in blocking; they are a tutorial in spacing. The correct first fight looks like this:
- Let the enemy start its swing from outside range.
- Walk in after the swing, not before it.
- Land one light attack, then back out. Do not chase a three-hit string with a rusty sword.
Throwing weapons are available from the start in the secondary slot. They run on a cooldown, not ammunition, so use one to pull a single enemy away from a group. The first crystal monument you pass is your checkpoint; touch it even if you are at full health.
A single better weapon changes the beach more than two levels of XP. If the enemies feel spongy, you are probably still on the rusty sword.
Minute 15–40: the barricade and the first ruin
Past the barricade, the path opens into the temple courtyards. This is where the demo starts showing off verticality. You will see ledges that are clearly authored and clearly out of reach; that is the game telling you Endu will matter later, not a puzzle you are failing now.
Clear the courtyard in a loop rather than a straight line:
- Hug the outer wall first to pick off spear carriers before the skull-club brute notices you.
- Use the pillars to break the spear carriers' line, then punish with a charged attack.
- Do not fight the octopus-headed walker in the open. Pull it into the doorway so its reach overlaps the wall.
The first interior room holds the demo's first real decision: push deeper for loot, or turn back to the outpost and spend. Turn back. The outpost stock is more valuable than the chest you are about to open, and the walk is short.
Minute 40–70: the outpost, the library and Wourha
The trading outpost is the demo's only shop. Buy consumables and one weapon that covers a damage type you do not have. The Ready For Anything achievement asks for one slash, one pierce and one impact weapon, and the shop is the reliable place to fill the gap.
From the outpost, climb to the library. This is the step most players skip. The Knowledge Keeper, Wourha, recognises you as a prince of the Abraon family and explains that the island got worse after "that knight" arrived. Talk to her twice; the second conversation adds the detail that sends you to the forbidden archives.
The library also contains the burial-area setup. Read the scrolls on the upper shelves and check the back room before you leave. If you walk out with only the story line, you will wander the burial area looking for a key that the game already told you how to find.
The demo will let you leave. The shrine key chain will not progress cleanly without the archive thread, and the boss route assumes you understand the burial area's locking logic.
Minute 70–100: the burial area and the shrine key
The burial area is the demo's puzzle box. The signature trick is a tombstone with a diamond-shaped hole. Throw a dagger into the slot; the door opens. This is the demo teaching you that throwables are keys as well as damage.
Inside, follow the shrine corridor to the mausoleum and pull the lever. The floor outside opens, dropping you toward the boss. Before you drop:
- Rest at the nearest crystal monument.
- Spend your remaining money at the outpost if you can still walk back.
- Equip a fast-cooldown throwing weapon.
- Fill every consumable slot. There is no reason to save an elixir for after the demo.
The drop is the point of no return for the demo's final sequence. Land on the lit platform rather than the edge; the arena is readable once you are inside it.
The skeleton boss
The demo's single boss is the great-axe skeleton in the purple-lit corridor. The fight is a lesson in not backing into geometry:
- Do not retreat in a straight line. The corridor is narrow, and the axe's forward chases punish a backpedal.
- Circle toward the weapon side. The wind-up is slow enough to walk around; the recovery is not long enough for a full string.
- Use the throw. The gap between axe swings is exactly one throwing cooldown.
- Accept the trade. One safe hit and a reset is better than three hits and an empty stamina bar.
The demo ends after the fight. There is no post-boss area to explore and no demo-to-full save transfer to protect. If you are chasing the Who Cooked This? achievement, do it before the drop; the meal is in the earlier areas, not the boss corridor.
Demo achievements checklist
| Achievement | What it asks | Reliable approach |
|---|---|---|
| Who Cooked This? | Find and eat the mystery meal | Sweep cooking spots in the first settlement before the barricade |
| Ready For Anything | Own slash, pierce and impact weapons | Buy the missing type at the outpost |
| Umbada's Trading Outpost | Visit the shop | Talk to the merchant, not just the door |
| Knowledge Keeper | Progress Wourha's thread | Talk twice and read the archive scrolls |
| Hidden shop | Find the demo's secret merchant | Explore false walls and back rooms, not the main street |
The demo secrets page goes deeper on the meal, the hidden shop and the dagger-slot puzzle, including what is still unconfirmed.
What to practise for the full game
The demo is a mechanics exam more than a content sample. Three habits carry over:
- Clear a room before you loot it. Enemy respawns after death are real; a half-cleared room is a trap on the way back.
- Keep one of each damage type. The full game's bestiary is wider, and the demo already asks you to cover slash, pierce and impact.
- Learn the charged attack timing. It is the difference between a stamina-neutral trade and a lost bar.
If you want the full-game route, start with the walkthrough. If the demo's first hour felt too slow, the review roundup will tell you whether that pace opens up or stays deliberate.

FAQ
How long is the demo? About 1 hour 38 minutes for the median player, 45 minutes for a fast run that skips the library and the meal.
Does demo progress carry over? No transfer has been announced. Treat the demo as practice, not a save file.
Can I fight the boss without the shrine key? No. The key chain opens the mausoleum drop; the boss is behind it.
Is the demo the same as the first hour of the full game? Yes, it is the opening slice. The full game continues past the skeleton into the wider island.
