Queen's Domain Save Points: How Crystal Monuments Work

Where Queen's Domain saves, how crystal monuments work, what respawns after death and which one-way drops you should never take without resting.

Last Updated: 2026-10-30

Queen's Domain does not let you save anywhere. Progress is tied to crystal monuments, the glowing rest points scattered across the Isle of Neasied. Learning where they are — and what resting actually resets — is the difference between a tense run and a wasted evening.

Crystal monuments are the only reliable rest and save points on the island

What a crystal monument does

A crystal monument is three things at once:

  1. A save point. Your progress is recorded when you interact with it.
  2. A respawn point. Death returns you to the last monument you used.
  3. A reset. Resting restores your health and stamina and respawns regular enemies.

That third function is the one players miss. Resting is not free healing; it is a world reset. If you cleared a room and want the enemies to stay dead, do not rest. If you want to farm, rest on purpose.

Resting respawns regular enemies

The demo's hotfix notes confirm that defeated enemies return after a continue. Treat every rest as a full room reset, not a checkpoint that preserves your cleared path.

Where the monuments are

The island is interconnected, and the monuments cluster at the seams between regions. The practical list, in route order:

Region Monument What it gates
Shore First monument after the barricade The opening courtyard loop
Courtyard Monument beside the statue court The library approach
Outpost Monument at the trading post Shopping and the first upgrades
Library Monument before the archive hall Wourha and the shrine-key thread
Burial area Monument above the tomb rows The burial-area puzzle
Mausoleum Monument at the antechamber The one-way drop to the Butcher
Red void Monument at the threshold The Necronomicon approach

Names are descriptive, not official. The map guide places each one in the island's vertical layout.

Death and runbacks

When you die:

  • You return to the last monument.
  • Regular enemies respawn.
  • Bosses reset to full health.
  • Consumables you used are gone.
  • Food buffs are gone.

The runback is part of the boss design. The Butcher's corridor, the Sentinel's sea platform and the Necronomicon's red void all have short approaches if you found the right monument. If your runback is longer than a minute, you probably missed one.

The one-way drop rule

The island has several drops that cannot be climbed back from. The mausoleum's floor opening is the clearest example: a lever inside opens a hole outside, and the hole leads to the Butcher's corridor.

Before any drop:

  1. Rest at the nearest monument.
  2. Spend your currency. Money does nothing in a boss arena.
  3. Fill heals and food. The next merchant may be a region away.
  4. Check your damage coverage. A single damage type is a gamble.
  5. Note the room. If you survive, you may need to find the way back.

The walkthrough marks each one-way drop in the route.

Can you save before a boss?

Yes, if the boss has a monument before its arena. The Butcher and the Necronomicon do; the Sentinel's platform is reached from the courtyard monument, which makes the approach part of the fight.

Do not quit out to avoid a death. The game's save is tied to the monument, and quitting does not create a new checkpoint. If you are losing, die, respawn, and use the runback to rethink the loadout.

What resting does not reset

  • Bosses you have already killed stay dead.
  • Key items stay in your inventory.
  • Opened shortcuts stay open.
  • NPC dialogue progresses; you cannot re-ask a completed conversation for a new reward.

That last point matters: talk to every NPC before you rest, because the conversation state is part of the save.

A practical checkpoint routine

  1. Clear the room between you and the monument.
  2. Talk to any NPC in the room.
  3. Rest and save.
  4. Spend currency on heals or a damage-type gap.
  5. Eat stat food only if a boss or a new region is next.
  6. Leave the monument with a full bar.

This routine takes two minutes and removes most of the game's "I lost an hour" complaints.

FAQ

Can I save anywhere? No. Saving is tied to crystal monuments.

Do enemies respawn after resting? Yes. Regular enemies return; bosses you have killed do not.

Does the game autosave? The monument is the save. Do not rely on an autosave between monuments.

Do I lose items on death? You lose consumables you used, not key items or equipment.

Where is the nearest save before the final area? The red void threshold monument. If you are past it without resting, go back.
